ROSLYN E. DOTSON
Of Cherokee
Eastern Band decent, Roz was born in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and
has lived in the NY/NJ area since the '60's. She was a founding partner and
Senior Vice President of Red Road Productions, the first all
Native American full service production company in NY state. Her
many years of production expertise was obtained through employment
with Screen Actors Guild, HBO, NBC and as a studio/freelance
recording/re-mix engineer.
While at Red
Road, some of her work as a producer included the "Skywoman
Festival", a five week schedule of stage programs celebrating Native and
Aboriginal Women in theater, also a first in New York State; a
commercial for the Henry Street Settlement, Abrons Art Center; Red
Road's first music video, "Rez Mobb"; and a short documentary on the
Native Vision Life Skills program (a mentoring
program sponsored by the National Football Players Association,
Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Nick Lowery Charitable Foundation)
"The Faces of Native Vision."
During eight
years as a Business Representative for Screen Actors Guild, Roz, a
specialist on the Commercials Contracts, became proficient in the
contract interpretation of all SAG. contracts (feature films,
television ,documentaries and industrials.). As the first
full time Commercials Field Rep. for SAG, her presence was
known and well regarded on the sets of, quite literally, hundreds of
commercials,
television productions and major feature
films. This also afforded
her the opportunity
to work with and form business relationships with exceptionally
professional technical crews, artists, actors and performers.
After 6 years at
the American Indian Community House, Roz resigned her full time
position in December, 2006, as a Computer Skills Instructor to handle being the
President and producer/director of Tâpwę Production Projects. She
does however remain at
AICH
